The iconic Buachaille Etive Mòr, a calendar favorite, captured after a grueling drive through relentless snow. Passing abandoned cars with summer tyres scattered along the route, it had been a long and challenging night. Needing a break, I stopped at this classic viewpoint, hoping for a glimpse of the mountain.
The cloud hung low, cloaking the landscape in a heavy winter mood. But with a bit of patience, the Buachaille revealed itself, standing proud amidst freezing conditions. This frame perfectly encapsulates the raw cold and atmospheric drama of that day in Glencoe.
This fine art print is more than a photograph, it’s a moment suspended in winter's grip, where perseverance met reward. Perfect for collectors and adventurers alike, it brings the wild atmosphere of Glencoe into your home with striking detail and emotional depth.
Each photography print is crafted on archival fine art paper, utilizing the highest quality UV-resistant pigment inks, ensuring a lifespan of over 85 years. All A4, A3 & A2 prints are produced in-house on Fotospeed Natural Soft Textured Bright White 315 fine art paper, while all panoramic prints larger than 594mm are outsourced to a professional print lab and produced on Hahnemühle Photo Rag 308; both papers are acid-free, 100% cotton paper and certified by the Fine Art Trade Guild.
I always advise using rubber gloves when handling the paper to prevent any oils from your fingers marking the artwork. However, each print comes with a white border, allowing you to handle it without touching the printed image.
For framing, it’s best to provide the framer with the printed area dimensions in millimeters along with your preferred mount border width; which should be larger than the border on the paper. Quality framers typically reduce the aperture of the mount by 6mm, creating a subtle overlay that conceals the unprinted edges. If you are fitting the print into an existing frame and require a custom mount, take the print area and subtract 6mm from the width and height; see table below for examples for this aspect ratio.
| Size | Paper | Exact Size | Print Area | Suitable Mount Aperature |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| A4 | Fotospeed Natural Soft Textured Bright White 315 | 210 x 256mm | 184 x 230mm | 178 x 224mm |
| A3 | Fotospeed Natural Soft Textured Bright White 315 | 297 x 361mm | 258 x 322mm | 252 x 316mm |
| A2 | Fotospeed Natural Soft Textured Bright White 315 | 420 x 520mm | 355 x 444mm | 349 x 438mm |
